About Charles
NAME: Charles
NICKNAME: Shu ROLE: Strength Trainer / Coach
MY JOURNEY: Born and raised in West Auckland, I’m of Samoan descent. Growing up, I was taught the importance of respecting others, serving our community, and honouring our elders and parents. Church and my faith in God played a central role in my upbringing. Like many young Pacific males, I grew up playing rugby and league, inspired by role models like Michael Jones, Eroni Clarke, and the late Vaáiga Tuigamala. I was fortunate to represent Auckland in provincial rugby and played club rugby for Te Atatū and Waitākere. My upbringing, combined with life experiences, work as a computer engineer, involvement in sports, and leadership roles in church, all prepared me for the next chapter—joining the New Zealand Police 23 years ago. Serving the vulnerable and supporting youth in West Auckland has been my passion. That same commitment inspired my wife and a close friend to start Allnations Fitness in 2014.
TRAINING STYLE / FAVOURITE CHALLENGE: I thrive on high-intensity cardio workouts—whether outdoors or in the gym. My go-to exercises include bodyweight circuits, rowing, box-fit, and anything that gets the heart pumping. My favourite classes? Definitely “Cardio-Blast” and “Box-Fit”—they’re fast, fun, and full of energy.
ABOUT ME: The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. I’m all about offering quality time to my family, friends, and community—not rushed, but meaningful. I firmly believe Allnations Fitness is more than just a gym. It’s a space where people from all walks of life come together to challenge themselves, grow stronger, and feel supported. Watching strangers become teammates and friends by the end of a class is one of the most rewarding parts of being a coach here.
FAVOURITE FOOD: Nothing beats my mum’s Samoan home-cooked meals—pure comfort and flavour.
FAVOURITE THING TO DO: Spending quality time with family, firing up the BBQ at home, and sneaking in a cheeky round of golf.
FAVOURITE QUOTE: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
